Two Teenage Girls in Custody After 64-Year-Old Man Seriously Injured During Alleged Attack in St. Thomas

ST. THOMAS, Jamaica — Police are continuing investigations into a disturbing incident in Morant Bay, St. Thomas, that has left a 64-year-old man hospitalized and two teenage girls in police custody.

The teenagers, aged 14 and 15, are being investigated on suspicion of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and simple larceny following an alleged attack that unfolded during the early hours of Saturday, July 5.

According to preliminary information from investigators, the 64-year-old complainant allegedly arranged to meet the two girls at a villa in Morant Bay around 3:00 a.m. Police allege that the meeting had been organized for a sexual encounter.

Investigators further claim that before the meeting took place, the teenagers allegedly purchased several items, including duct tape, knives, tarpaulin and other materials. Authorities are now examining whether those purchases were connected to what later unfolded.

Police reports indicate that the complainant allegedly picked up the girls the previous night before transporting them to the villa where the incident occurred.

Investigators allege that while inside a rented room at the premises, the man was attacked. During the incident, he reportedly sustained multiple injuries to his face, neck and back.

Despite suffering serious injuries, police say the man managed to escape from the room and alert others nearby, prompting an emergency response.

Responding officers reportedly found the complainant bleeding at the scene before rushing him to hospital, where he was admitted in serious but stable condition. Medical personnel continue to monitor his recovery.

Authorities also allege that after the attack, the two suspects fled the location in the complainant’s motor vehicle. Police have since recovered the teenagers, who remain in custody as investigators continue gathering evidence.

At this stage, detectives are working to determine the full sequence of events that led up to the incident. Investigators are expected to review witness statements, forensic evidence and other material collected from the scene as part of the ongoing probe.

The case has generated widespread discussion because of the ages of those involved and the serious nature of the allegations. However, legal experts continue to emphasize that the allegations remain under investigation and have not yet been tested in court.

Because the suspects are minors, Jamaican law restricts the release of certain identifying information, and authorities have not disclosed their identities.

Police have also not indicated whether additional individuals could become involved in the investigation or whether further charges may be laid as inquiries continue.

The incident serves as another reminder of the risks associated with arranging meetings with individuals whose identities and intentions may not be fully known. Authorities continue to urge members of the public to exercise caution when meeting people in private settings and to report suspicious activity to law enforcement.

As detectives continue their investigation, more information is expected to be released regarding the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.

Police say the investigation remains active, and all allegations are subject to the findings of the courts. Every person accused of an offence is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
